I live in New Zealand and Prostitution is legal here, it is governed by some big organisation to keep it safe and clean though. Anyway is it illegal for someone from the united states to travel to NZ and subsequently solicit a prostitute.
I know its illegal for americans to do this in cambodia and thailand and such because thats illegal in those 3 countries. But what about if its not illegal in the country they traveled to?
What Do I Need In Order To Travel Internationally? Hello everyone, I am planning to potentially travel to Germany and/or Russia sometime soon, and since I have never traveled outside the US, I have...
No… It’s not illegal. We even have legal prostitution in Nevada.
It is illegal for Americans to buy trade restricted items such as Cuban cigars, thereby financing an enemy of the USA when overseas. But, this is seldom, if ever, enforced. Otherwise… the law of the land is the law.
yes you go by the laws of the country, like the drinking age in Australia is 18 but in most US states its 21, so an Australian in the USA can’t buy beer until they are 21 even though back home they can at 18
As long as you shag the purchase in said Country, thus breaking no law.
Neither are you breaking the law in the Country you travelled from, as no shagging was done there, nor a purchase made.
An American traveling abroad is bound by the laws of the country he/she is in. Traveling from USA to New Zealand is an expensive way to get you know what. You could find a better use for the money.
Yes, read US Travel laws…It is illegal as you are bound by the laws of this country. You may not get caught over there, big brother is always watching.
prostitution is illegal in Cambodia and Thailand and regardless of the legality in your own country it would be illegal for you to hire a prostitute there.
When prostitution is legal in the locality that you are visiting, then it is legal for you to hire a prostitute regardless of the legality in your home country.
So yes, an American visiting NZ can hire a prostitute there and not get in trouble with the law if it is legal to do so.
You are subject to the laws of the place you are visiting, not the laws of your own country. If you break a law in Cambodia or Thailand and you are from NZ or America, then you have to face the legal authorities and judicial system of the host country NOT your home country. An American visiting NZ is subject to the laws of NZ while in that country. A citizen of NZ is subject to the laws of America while visiting that country.
Purely from a legal standpoint, and setting aside the morality issues, there is no legislation that forbids foreign or overseas visitors from soliciting prostitutes in New Zealand.
